Looking bad...

...But we go to church anyway.
The kids packed for themselves. So of course Dallin forgot church pants, a tie, and a belt. Logan forgot a belt and Emma forgot church shoes. ha ha. But we went anyway. I told Emma she could just wear her flip flops...
But do you see they're not even a matching set??
Thats because of Logan.

Funny story:
The day before when we were at the creek Logan was "pretending" like he was going to throw 1 of Emma's flip flops in the creek. Then he "accidentally" really let go. His face immediately looked >PANIC< as he watched it float down stream. Realizing he might actually get in big trouble, he took off trying to catch it. Him and Griffin spent like 30 minutes trying to catch the flip flop they saw down stream... he kept falling in the water and ended up soaking wet. BUT HE GO IT (so he thought).... {picture of him soaking wet below}
When he finally triumphantly brought her the recovered flip flop... she said,
"Thats not mine" HA HA HA.
He had retrieved someone else's lost flip flop in the stream. But the good news is it was indeed a 'right' flip flop, completing the pair, albeit a bigger size and a different color.

So thats what she wore the rest of the week.
1 Aeropostale, 1 not. Ha ha.

Lake of the Woods

It was a good fishing day... pretty much everyone caught fish.
Mostly little catfish.

Worming the hook:
(I even put a worm on for Sydney, but only once... because, gross)
--Gatorade Lips--
We all can't get enough of how little & cute & funny Sophie is. We are always trying to hug & squeeze on her... see how she loves it, ha ha:
AWARD for BEST FISHERMAN:
Goes to Dallin
Everyone was catching little catfish or blue gills.
So while the others had all the fishing poles... Dallin took a string in his hand (picture above) and put a worm on the end. With his bare hands holding the string, he caught the biggest cat fish of the day:
They kept hoping to get a trout so they could eat it, but had only gotten cat fish and blue gill. About 10 minutes after Dallin caught the biggest catfish.... he had this net in his hand and saw a big trout in the water. So he jumped up and grabbed the fish with just the net and his bare hands. ha ha. Biggest Fish caught of the day, and the only trout. ha ha.
Who needs fishing poles?
The Statens ate his trout for dinner.

Surprise!

Family walk in Pinetop with...
...The Statens!!!
Right after school got out we headed up to Pinetop for Memorial Week. The first night up there we went to Safeway for groceries.  Someone down the aisle yelled my name... and wasn't I surprised to turn around and see Christine! They were up there the same time as us, and neither of us knew. Wow! Sometimes we try to schedule time to see them and between our 2 schedules we can't even find a time that we're both available. Ha ha, such a lucky treat!

More Graduation...

Seeing the below picture being taken got me teary.
This is seminary graduation night, with all the kids in our ward.
Ashlin has gone to school with most of these guys since elementary. Great kids. Our ward even had more kids than any other ward in the stake graduate from seminary this year. Ashlin has shared with me so many times just how much she has learned and grown in seminary the last 4 years. She learned to give spiritual thoughts and insights there. She has shared multiple lessons in FHE that she learned there. I am so thankful for the gospel and programs of the church that bless and enrich the lives of our kids.

And the week after graduation....
FAMILY GRADUATION PARTY
at Val Vista Lakes.

LOOK where Ashlin & Macy are BOTH going next year:

Oh yes... we made even more ASU cookies for this party!

Music

I can't even keep up with all the music posts I could've made this spring:
After taking a few cute family UKULELE lessons this spring, there are always ukuleles laying around everywhere and someone trying to learn a new song, usually Emma.
Lily took the below picture 1 random day.
(I also can't keep track of how many times Cassidy
has fallen asleep on our floor or couch, ha ha)

Emma's end of year Choir Concert with the Rube-ster.
So much practicing going on with Lily on violin now added.
Sophie took the below picture one day.
And I love the way the kid's
END OF SCHOOL CONCERT is done family picnic style. We came with our blanket & dinner and lounged on the grass listening to those cuties. This year we brought a container of homemade brownies. Miss Emma begged to walk around with it and share, passing them out to anyone we knew. No surprise.

Loved all the patriotic songs!
Now Lily and I have added "Your a Grand Old Flag" and "Yankee Doodle Dandy" to the bed time songs we sing together at night.

Family Football

So Dallin decided to do high school football this next year.
He really regrets not doing it his freshman year.
He's been going to the spring training ever since wrestling ended.

The last week of school they had a father-son football tournament. So cool. All the boys soph-seniors could come with their fathers or other adult mentor. I've been impressed with the values of these football coaches Dallin has. I worried about him doing football for the atmosphere. But it has been a very positive impressive experience so far.
They randomly set up a bunch of boy teams, and father teams. Bruce was luckily on a team with some other guys in our stake that we knew. So the moms and I sat on the side and chatted. Above picture is the FINAL GAME of the tournament. Lucky day, Dallin AND Bruce's team BOTH made it to the final game.... but the boys won! No surprise.
Funny thing:
Bruce and the other dads on his team were exhausted and spent after 2 hours of like 6 mini games trying to prove they still "had it". They walked over to the bleachers happy to do be done, having given everything physically. Bruce sat down on the bleachers next to me with his free hot dog and soda. Half way through his hot dog they announced the final teams. Bruce's team made the finals! Ha ha. He was hoping he was done for the day.... he didn't even get to finish his hot dog, and got up for more. I saw him walk over to the other equally as exhausted dad, Br. Lauder and deliver the surprise that he had to come out and play again. Their facial expressions were so funny. Us wives laughed, as they pulled together what energy they had left and went out again, knowing they would have happily just eaten a hot dog and let another "dad team" team make the finals. ha ha.

Such a great evening. I loved it

Someone Perfect

Bruce, Sophie and I got to go to Lily's
Special Awards Flag Ceremony:
She was 1 of only 8 kids in the entire school to get the PERFECT ATTENDANCE award.  That girl loves school!

↑ ↑ ↑

And this one sure tried to hide from me and foible all my attempts to take a good picture of him.

But I got one.

HOORAY for these 2 straight 'A' kids!
