Trickers

I decided that Logan needed to know that I don't just get mad at him, but I also really love him.

So last wednesday on Bruce's day off, we surprised Logan in the middle of the day by pulling him out of school to take him out to lunch with us. It made me so happy to think of Logan sitting in his class unaware as he heard the surprise office intercom call that "LOGAN VERNON" needed to come to the office and was leaving. I can remember how exciting that was as a kid.

I could see how hard he was trying to hide his curious excitement as he quickly walked down the hall towards me.

When I signed him out, I hope it wasn't too untrue that I wrote for reason "appointment". I told Logan that I forgot to tell him he had a Doctors Appointment. He immediately said nervously, "Do I have to get a shot?".

Then as we walked out the front door and he saw Bruce in the car, he looked confused..... until I told him, "Oh, it is actually a LUNCH appointment with DOCTOR Vernon!"

And then he got a big smile on his face, and we laughed.
Aren't we trickers??

Student of the Month

Look at that cute face.

Last friday Bruce, Sophie and I went to Lily's class to watch her receive her award. Lily was so proud to be chosen as the exemplary child for January.

Guess what Lily?
We are not the only ones who think you are wonderful!

Sisters

The other morning Emma told me that I didn't have to do Lily's hair, but only needed to take out the braids. She had put Lily's hair in lots of tiny braids the night before, after we put them in bed, so it would be wavy the next day.

Emma said she had to pay Lily a dollar to let her do it, because Lily didn't think it would look cute. It looked a lot cuter then Lily and I thought it would, and Lily was so excited to go to school with wavy hair.

And my favorite part of the whole thing was picturing them in their room at night (they share a room), after they were suppose to be in bed, Emma braiding her little sisters hair.

(Emma got a sticker on the chart for that)
**Bruce had Emma help him make this chart monday in his continued effort to get all of us speaking kinder to each other. When we hear each other say kind things, we give them a sticker, when we hear them speak unkindly they get an X. When they reach so many stickers, Bruce has a surprise for them, but only if they have more stickers then X's.

PS- Bruce has complimented me more then ever
PSS- Logan didn't want me to take a picture of this chart... I wonder why.

Famous

Bruce, AKA Dr. Vernon,
is pretty much famous.

Our friends the Hamada's work for CBS, and needed a Veterinarian to interview, they thought of Bruce first since he is basically amazing... :)

Click on the link below to see him on CBS news last night:

PS- Also a shout out Congratulations to our cat, Mr. Boo Banfield, who is with him in the interview.

To remember

A few random things I wanted to remember:

Bruce and/or I always tuck the kids in at night when they go to sleep. Then later before we go to bed, we check on them after their asleep. Last night at about 10:30pm Bruce went to check on the kids on his way to bed. He saw Emma move in her bed, so he went closer to make sure she was asleep. Then she stood up half asleep and started walking. So he followed her. As she was walking down the hallway...

Bruce said, "Emma- where are you going?"
Emma, "Downstairs"
Bruce, "Why?"
Emma, "to read scriptures"

Bless her heart, she thought it was 5:50am and he was waking her up for family scripture study. That was so tender to me, that she must have felt incredibly tired, having had 1 hour of sleep, but she got up, in the dark, that quickly anyway.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We love how 2 yr old Sophie says "Hold You" when she wants someone to hold her. I think many toddlers say this, and its the sweetest. So of course, we all say it to her too. The other day Ashlin was sitting next to her in the car (because Sophie cries if anyone but Ashlin sits next to her)...
Ashlin kept holding out her hands and saying "Hold You!" to Sophie.
Sophie told her "NO hold you!" Then she paused and added "I'm serious"
We all laughed... its so fun to hear our little baby trying out new phrases.
Run
Dallin did Cross Country this winter.
Dallin has really slimmed out this school year. He started off the school year doing a "Fitness Merit Badge" for Boy Scouts. He had to run every week and try and improve his time. He improved his mile by 2 minutes in 8 weeks. He wanted to keep up his running, so he joined Cross Country at his school with his buddy Isaac.
(Dallin above in white)
I'm so proud of him that he joined Cross Country even though he wasn't as fast as most the other boys... that made me almost prouder of him, that he did it any way, because he wanted to improve himself. He also signed up for two hours of PE at school (regular PE and Advanced Fitness). He would come home each day telling me how many miles he ran between everything. He has gotten so much taller and thinner in the last few months. And its because he has worked hard.
When he runs in meets, he's always in the last quarter of boys. But he was telling me that when he runs in practice he can stay in the front half. He said, "but thats only because I am running as fast as I can run while the rest of them aren't trying". He is so sweet.
Funny thing... after the last meet, I took him out to dinner, just him and I. It was fun to just talk to him. He was cracking me up. He was telling me how rich Ashlin is... he said:
"Did you know she has a $100 bill?"
"If I had a $100 bill, I would go to the bank and trade it for all one dollar bills."
"Do you KNOW how many dollar bills that would be??"
Then he paused and said, "like a HUNDRED"
I am still laughing over that one.
I love you Dallin!
(Dallin- can I tell you how thankful I am for a good son every night when I check on you after you're asleep, and I hear your ipod set to church music..♥)
A little panic
One day it was just Sophie and I home, and she was happily playing while I was getting stuff done (truth be told, updating my blog). I could hear her cute little voice upstairs.
Some time went by and I realized I hadn't heard her in a long time. I jumped up and started yelling "SOPHIE, what are you doing?" No answer. Usually she answers.
I ran upstairs, knowing thats where she was, and looked in every room, calling her name. It was silent and she was NO WHERE upstairs. I knew she wasn't downstairs, so my little heart started beating faster, and I felt like a horrible mother. Just as I was about to panic I heard this faint little Sophie voice coming from the deck. The sliding door to the deck was closed, I didn't think she knew how to close it. I opened the door to check, and this is what I found:
She was all snuggled in masses of blankets, pillows and stuffed animals... lounging with her head back, looking at the park behind our house with a big smile on her face. It was the cutest site.
I had no idea how all that stuff got out on the deck.
I found out after school that after we had put Dallin and Logan to bed the night before, they snuck all that stuff out on the deck and slept outside together. Bruce forgot to tell me that is where he had found them at 5:50am when he woke them up for family scriptures.
