Baby VS Food

And the Baby turns ONE!

For Sophie's first birthday in July we made her her own TRIPLE layer mini pink cake! (And a big double layer one for everyone else)
Her cousins came to help us celebrate.

It's a little lop-sided, and I envisioned it a lot cuter, but whatever. Tradition means she gets it served on her highchair to eat all herself!

I thought my kids loved to watch MAN VS FOOD on TV, well they do, but nothing can compare to how funny it was to see Sophies 5 older siblings and 4 cousins crowded around her cheering her on and cracking up watching her eat her cake. Oh my goodness. It was the best episode yet:

BABY VS FOOD

Can she do it?
Can the baby finish the Three Layer TOWER of Pink Frosting and Strawberry Cake:

After diving in to it face first like 6 times... she finally had the effective idea to use her hands and started to make better head way...

feeling a little sick...

...but hanging in there

Ok, well, maybe we should have stopped her at the point the cake became a toy and not food...

but she was so funny

... and look at the mess

But after all, the BABY WINS!

APPLAUSE!

Oh we laughed so hard. I honestly don't know that I have ever seen all 9 of the other kids SO entertained. Oh how much they love having a baby around!

After a bath and her new jammies,
she got to enjoy some of her presents too.
HAPPY FIRST BIRTHDAY to our darlingest little Sophie wearing her new pony jammies (ofcourse picked out by Lily, her 4 year old sister who is really in to ponies)

We love You!

Boating Day

Last post on California trip...
There is just so much to do at Sea!
This year we did a Harbor Cruise:

(LOOK, a picture that actually has Bruce, me and our 6 kids!!)

My sister Chrissy, who just got married, with her husband Rich, and 4 children:

And the whole gang below before we entered the harbor cruise. Wow,
once Chrissy got married in to 4 children, check out how many people in the family...

If you check me out below, I am WAY excited.

Seal Beach:

But probably my favorite thing we did in Cali this year was touring the Star of India (below)... an old passenger ship from the 1800's... SOO cool, we could have stayed on that boat way longer then we did. You paid money to tour multiple boats, we also toured a submarine. It was Fascinating!

There is just SO much to do in California!

Disneyland

We were not planning to go to Dinseyland this summer... but then they went and made "Give a Day- Get a Day" where you give service for free Disney tickets... and we got our WHOLE family tickets to Disneyland!! My 2 sisters, and our hubbies and all 14 of our kids and my dad all went.

THANK YOU DISNEY!

Oh, if Gold Canyon candles would just make a candle capturing the smell of "Pirates of the Caribbean"... I would be so happy! This ride alone is what make me want to go to Disneyland:

The only sad thing about going to Disneyland in a big group, was that my kids were always pairing up with cousins on rides (which they loved) so the excitement of watching your childs face next to you on the ride was missed a little....

However, the surprising thing was just... how... much... our baby LOVED Disneyland, Bruce and I cracked up watching her on every ride! She had just learned to wave and she spent all day waving frantically at all the characters on the rides, with both hands, with so much excitement. Watching her was heaven.

And this was her favorite ride, by far. It was SO SO fun to see all our family fill the boat, and sing "Its a Small World"... and see Sophie a waving... ofcourse it made me cry. LOVED it.

We love you Disneyland!

Seashore

Solana Beach-June 2010
The most awaited day of the whole year is the day we leave for Cali with the whole Blake Family to stay in the condos at Sand Pebbles!

Heavenly.

There's always a gaggle of Blake people to hang out by the cliffs with...

It's the Doctors of Veterinariay Medicine,
well, Casey in 9 months, yeah!
